Go Nuts For Cooking With Flavored Almonds

You can turn up the taste in your cooking by using flavored almonds. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Get Crusty

Almonds make a healthy addition to any coating mix. They also add a flavorful crunch.

Almond Crusted Salmon

Coat salmon, or almost any fish, in chopped almonds. Onion garlic almonds go well with fish.

Put your almonds in the food processor until they are finely chopped. Then dredge the fish and fry in olive oil for about 4 minutes on each side.

Almond Coated Chicken

Use thicker chunks of almond as the coating for a hearty chicken dish. Simply add some almonds to your favorite chicken coating or use bread crumbs seasoned with salt and pepper.

Dip your chicken in an egg wash and then press it into the almond coating. Brown the chicken in canola oil for about 2 minutes on each side, and then finish by baking the chicken in a 400 degree oven for about 10 minutes.

Try a spicy almond mix with chili flavoring for a delicious result.

Put a Spin on Your Salad

Nuts are mouth watering in a salad, and they knock the nutrition value out of the park. Try these simple ways to perk up a boring salad.

Sweet Almond Salad

Add something sweet like honey roasted almonds to a salad with strawberries, spinach and blue cheese to get your taste buds singing.

Savory almonds perk up a traditional salad.

Salad Dressing

Use a food processor to mix flavored almonds into your salad dressing. Mix spicy almonds into asian dressing for a tangy surprise, or add garlic flavored almonds to Italian dressing.

Go Sweet

Almond is a tried and true flavor in many desserts. You can use flavored almonds to make your sweet foods even more appealing.

Almond Brittle

Mix a half cup of corn syrup and a half cup of sugar in a sauce pan. Let it get hot, stirring constantly so it doesn't burn. When it's smooth, add a teaspoon of butter and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Then add a half cup of almonds and a half teaspoon of salt. Turn off the heat and stir in a half teaspoon of baking soda. The mixture will bubble.

Spread the mixture on parchment paper to cool, and then break it into pieces.

Try cinnamon flavored almonds or honey roasted almonds in this recipe.

Easy Almond Cake

An incredible cake is a no brainer when it starts with a white cake mix. Prepare your cake according to the directions on the package, except add a teaspoon of almond extract and a half cup of chopped almonds. You can use any almond flavor that will go well with sweets. Try cinnamin or vanilla almonds.
